I have an Anime MKV files which I want to convert to DVD....I can convert the video and the sound but the problem is with the subtitle..

When I watch the MKV with Media PLayer Classic, it has a fixed font, colours and position (upper screen for opening karaoke) When I convert the subs to srt...all the font, color and position are gone (only white subs on bottom screen)...I want my DVD to display subtitle like the MKV files..

Sorry with my english but can you guys help me out?

You really need to hard encode if you want all the colours/effects.

Odd, srt's don't support positioning. That was the only subtitle stream?

when i open the mkv in the mkvextractGUI...it list out all the streams and attachment font for the subtitles....If I extract only the .ass file, is it gonna work without the font files?

DVD subs just aren't as advanced as ASS. They don't for instance as far as I know support motion tracking (used to do those funky translations of signs), etc. As I said, you really need to hard encode. You can have switchable subs, just not with advanced ASS features. Errr, that really doesn't work since the A stands for advanced. Advanced advanced? Anyway, if you want switchable subs, you need to settle for more simple subs. You can however pick the font, since dvdsubs are bitmap based.

I found out that my subtitle file is .ass but it doesn't really that 'advanced'..only font, color and positioning...so I thought that i could convert it to .ssa (.srt didn't support this feature, right?) What software should I use to convert this subs?

Which DVD authoring software that supports .ssa? (that supports subs positioning) Right now I'm using DVDLab Pro..

or can you guys give me a software to put permanent subs on avi..(using .ssa) There's alot in here but I dont know which is better and easiest..
