Your opinion is based on using TDK media in its many flavors on your drive(s).

If it don't work, it don't work.

That does not make the media BAD or CRAP or anything else other than media which does not work on your drives (or your manufacturer's drive).

Sure its nice to have media that work anywhere, but the standards for DVD media do not come close to guaranteeing that media will work anywhere.

TDK and many other vendors relabel media which meets the appropriate standards. Many of these relabelers are vendors who have a significant reputation in many types of product. If they felt they were risking their reputation or their profit margins, they wouldn't be sourcing from these vendors.

I point you to the media list because it carries the message, what works in your drive is good media for your drive and what works in other peoples drives is good media for their drive. And there may be little overlap.

For many people spending more for TY media is a waste of money and an inconvenience. Their drives work just as well with cheaper media, including all the TDK varients.

The media list does more to rate drives for compatibility, than media for quality.

I don't look at videohelp's media list to guide me on which dvd media matches my drives. I go according to the manufacturers list of recommended dvd media.

TY media is not expensive when you have 50 pack spindles of SONY or FUJI "MADE IN JAPAN" for $15.00 from sales at Best Buy and Compusa. That isn't expensive but very cheap for TY media. Of course there are those who don't have access to a Best Buy or Compusa then sure it will be costly to order them from a online retailer like Rima.com.

So don't point me in the direction like I'm a newbie to dvd burning. As I stated and I base my own experience with TDK media as crap when they decided to change manufacturers. To each's own! :P

I said YUDEN-coded DVD+R are better than TY-coded DVD-R. I said nothing about DVD-R vs DVD+R and which is more or less compatible or anything else. It was a statement about the burn quality of TY's two type of media, nothing more, nothing less.
Yep,I was changing the subject and adding my 2 pence/cents if you want and experience with most DVD-R's not just TY media, not getting at you at all.

Reading through a LOT of your posts if anyone says anything difference from your opinion you come across p1ssed off.

  5. Next month, Costco is going to have their buy 1 get one free 100 Pack TDK. If I recall it was around $42 for a spindle. This is in their new passport coupon book. I believe they are printable too.
