I have been using transcode under SuSe Linux, which works great, but since I reinstalled SuSe 10.1, I have not been able to transcode anything. In the meantime, ffmpegx is proving about as hot an item on my Powerbook as I could have hoped for.
So...
The obvious question is has anyone ported ffmpegx to Linux successfully?

This would entail more than a simple port, as ffmpegx is a graphic front end to a number of applications and requires numerous OS specific GUI and coding features. A far more reasonable route would be to find LINUX based front ends to ffmpeg, mencoder, and mpeg2enc. As these were originally LINUX/Unix utilities, I would be surpriesed if there were not Gnome or KDE front ends already out there. Justnot ffmpegX.

Try PSPVC, http://pspvc.sourceforge.net
It's basically an ffmpeg frontend, with specially patched ffmpeg and x265 sources, using a GTK2 GUI. It's pretty easy to get it compiled and working properly even with AVC on 2.71 firmware.
