  1. Hi Guys, I'm new around here, hence I don't know if I posted this in the right sub-forum...

I currently have got a DLT from a client, however, I need to extract the DDP 2.0 image from the DLT tape. Any software that I can use to retrieve the DDP image?

    Thanks!

  2. Sorry.. It should be DDP 2.1 instead of 2.0...

NovaXchange is the most common - novastor also makes (it is not on their website) some other DLT apps ... http://interchange.novastor.com/datasheets/di_tpu.html

    NovaXchange v3.1 with TAR/CPIO Plug-in
    MSRP: $1,295.00

also you can use the same authoring app that wrote the image in many cases - maestro , DVDA, scenarist, Studio and others all have DLT abilities - though I have found they dont all write the image on the tape the same ..

DDP 2.1 images are handled by GEAR PRO Mastering Edition .

to check if the image meets all DVD and DDP specs is to use a software verification system, like Eclipse ImageVerify.

in fact on reflection - you would be best off just using GEAR PRO Mastering Edition to read the images file (it does restore as wellas write and create) ... NovaXchange is geared more towards a production place that would be getting tapes formated different ways etc ....

  5. Thanks BJ_M for your prompt response! The problem that I am facing now is that I'm unable to restore the DDP image on the DLT tape that my client provided us with. I have been using WinTar SCSI for all my back up to DLT needs, however I'm unable to restore the files from the tapes with WinTar SCSI.

Can the Gear Pro Mastering Edition retrieve the DDP images from the DLT tape? I can't seem to find this function on their web page... Or maybe I need to change my specs!

Restore files to hard disk from DLT, Exabyte, or other tape drives.

  7. it's $700 and MAC only but DVDAfterEdit can do all this just fine.

If your seriously into the DVD business this app is simply the best tool in the world - handsdown.
