All Macs since like the debut of iMovie ship video capture ready -- via a FireWire device (a video camera, an analog to digital converter [ie Canopus]).
So the answer is yes.
If you want to capture MPEG2 video (like from an ADS USB Instant DVD), you should have a hard drive with at least 7200 rpm or you will drop frames from time to time. -
I will be capturing from a D8 camcorder.
7200 rpm? This one, and the 206 model, has 5400. And if this is for MPEG-2 capping only, it isn't a concern for me, but good to know.
