    Hey Guys,

I'm trying to get TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 to create a 16:9 menu, I can only get it to create a 4:3 one.

If I import a 16:9 source it sees it as that, and the menu icons show up as 16:9 but I can't work out how to actually get the menu to encode in 16:9.

If I make the menu and burn it to dvd, on a 4:3 TV the menu displays full screen, then when you click the icon of the video you want it runs in 16:9.

    Help! Thanks.

From what I can see o their site, you cannot create 16:9 menus with tmpgenc. However, if you use correctly stretched files for the background, there is no reason you cannot change the aspect ratio of the disc after compilation. There are many programs to do this, including IFOEdit, PGCEdit and DVD Patcher

  3. But then you can only use the menu on a 16:9 screen...
On a 4:3 TV the button highlights will be 'displaced'. For 16:9 menus one (or two) additional (letterbox and/or PanScan) set of buttons are necessary.

True, which is why cheapy authoring programs often don't touch it.

The question is - is it worth it. The videos play fine, and the mode switches back and forth so if you have set up your player and TV correctly, all will be well.
