First post & defo a newbie to this so please be gentle.

I have used Isobuster to create an mpeg file from a bin/cue. Tried burning the image to cd using nero5+ but extremely dodgy sound & audio sync. Then used virtual dub to create a wav file & tmpgenc to convert the wav & original mpeg to a usable file.

Unfortunately, due to me only having a cd burner I have to split the mpeg in two & this is where my problems start. The first encode (from 0 frames to middle) works fine but the second encode (from middle to end) freezes the video at the start for about 4 minutes then carries on as normal.

Firstly, what the hell am I doing wrong (I know it's me not the machine ) & secondly, is there an easier way to convert the bin/cue file in to a usable mpeg that I can burn as I've managed to get this far with the guides from the site but bin/cue is the first problem I've become stuck on.

    Cheers

    Rosco

PS I read the sticky on common tmpgenc problems but couldn't find anything that matches my problem

OK, usual spiel about downloading videos, usually things wrong with them, half-assed encodes, VBR MP3 audio, yadda yadda yadda .....

Let's try to rule a few things out first.

You burnt the image to CD and there were synch problems. Was this playing back on a PC or on a settop DVD player?

After extracting the MPEG out using ISOBuster, can you play this MPEG off your hard drive and does the sync problem exist ?

You said that you did two encodes - I'm assuming that the MPEG is more than 80 minutes long (VCD) and so that is why you are splitting ?

Maybe try doing one encode, and then splitting with TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools ?

Or alternatively just alter the video bitrate so that it fits to one CD - provided everything else is left alone, it is still VCD-compliant. You'll probably need a Bitrate Calculator - https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm is the one I use.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Firstly, thanks for replying.

To answer your first question the image I burnt was played back on a set top DVD player. It had no problems playing back through VLC on my hard drive or from the burnt image. Only problem is audio fading in/out & crackling on the DVD player.

Second question, again no problems with the extracted mpeg when playing on PC through VLC.

Right about the two encodes as a fully encoded mpeg would be too big for one 80min CD.

Had a quick look at the mpeg tools & will try one encode & split afterwards. If not then I'll be back to find out more about using bitrate calcs so I can burn to one disc.

    Thanks again
