If i am intending to burn more than one dvd, is it best to place an editted copy unto a dv tape and then extract the movie from the dv tape. I heard this from someone. He said it would preserve the quality

If you don't have the room on your hard drive to keep the DV, then a DV tape would be a good option. Saving the DV on tape is good if you plan to re-edit it or re-encode it in the future, maybe to a different format. But if you just need a second or more copies of the DVD, then just use the DVD and make a copy of it directly. They are both digital formats, so no losses should occur using either method.

Plus its faster to burn to dvd. Isn't a transfer of video to dv realtime?
