  1. Hello,

    I have an .avi file with Divx 5 encoder that I want to run through Virtualdub to clean up with a filter. The problem is, when I play the output .avi, the video is very sluggish and the sound is out of sync.

    Any ideas what the problem is? Could it be that the video file is in PAL format instead of NTSC?

    Thanks!!!
    Chris

    Problem accure's with incorrect frame rate is used (poor conversion) .

    Vdub - video - framerate = second edit box (enter new fps rate)

    Slow video = caused by higher fps encoded to lower fps
    Faster playback is opposite .

    You may need to guess these value's .

    When ready , video to direct stream copy , audio to direct stream copy ... save as avi (name it = fpstest.avi)
    Play this back , if close , you know where to head ... change fps value again and repeat step's .

    Playback new fpstest.avi , if correct , you is done .

    This should also bring audio back into alignment ...

    There have been a few guide's on this ... and most stuff about doing thing's the wrong way .

    ================================

    Do not play back video in vdub when video filter's are applied ... it will slow preview down .

    Also note that vdub will lose sync after some time in preview mode .

    The only program I have seen so far that is able to keep up is visualsubsync ... with the ability to loop any area ... good for judging audio sync amount for readjustment in another program .

    ================================

    Conversion :

    New version of super is getting better and more accurate ... free

    Note : Right click in area where video gose ... chose change skin's , chose the default in list at the top .

    It appear's super and it's default skin has a major problem with screen draw / refresh ... setting how I just mentioned will fix issue for now till next update .

    PS : Watch out for vob output .

    You will need to demux vobs using vobedit , then use rejig to reauthor from the video / audio stream's , before burning to dvd ... seem's vob output is an issue still .

    Ulead video studio ... in ebay , cheap ... version 9 se for $30.00au .

    Dose framerate conversion's better than any ... ntsc to pal , and reverse ... include's mpeg cutter ... and much more .

    Considering some freeware tool's dont work well , and those commercial editor's cost more than $30.00 au ... you cannot go wrong with buying the se version of ulead video studio ... as I said , it's packed ... too many feature's to say here .

    (download the trial version and see for yourself before purchase) ...
