Cuttermaran 1.66 was running with Netframework 1.1 in my E: WinXP Pro partition (triple boot). But now it won't open when I try to run it. The icon appears in the Windows taskbar but Cuttermaran won't display. Rebooted and tried again but same thing.

I removed Cuttermaran and Netframework. Then reinstalled Netframework and then installed Cuttermaran. No change in symptoms.

    Any ideas?

Make sure all version's and xp netframework update's are uninstalled .
    Unistall cuttermaran .

    Reboot pc .

If xp has found update's ready to install , tell it not now .

Now reinstall the correct "version" of net framework as required by cuttermaran ... reboot pc .

Again , if xp say's found update's , tell it not now .

    Install cuttermaran ... reboot .

Xp and it's update's again , say not now .

    Try cuttermaran now .

    ----------------------------

Should cuttermaran still have issue ... you may have a conflict with another program or a registry issue ..

Remember microsoft release's update's not fully checked ... we that use update's are considered "test bench's" ... so if pc develope's sudden "uknown" problem's ... alway's consider an update that has be installed after cuttermaran was installed to also be where issue can appear .

If you know when it was cutterman was last working (date wise) , then consider uninstalling all ms update's listed with date's after this point ...

Unfortunately , I nolonger have the time to track all these issue's with late release's of os patch's ... when I do find them ... these update's can be banned from pc so as to never be installed ... and never ask the user again .

    Bjs,

I tried your remove, re-install procedures with reboots between steps but no change.

Yes, I wonder if the Cuttermaran remove procedure leaves stuff in the registry which is affecting running of re-installed versions. I also am wondering if Cuttermaran can only work reliably if installed in the C: partition. (I have it installed in my E: partition.) Any one else have Cuttermaran running in a partition other than C: ?

You wouldn't happen to be the person who invented Cuttermaran would you? If so, thanks for a great free software!

No ... I'd be not the person responsible ... beside's , I hate netframework ... and if I ever meet those behind netframework dev , I'll blow them up ...

Like I need more system security hole's ... the ms os is already swiss cheese as it is .

If you want a good mpeg cutter , consider ulead video studio 9 se in ebay ... it's cheap ... and has more than enough feature's to satisfy most new at video editing ...

Between it , and comination of besweet , dvdauthorgui , avisynth , pgcedit , gimp , vdub , bbmpeg , rejig ... and a couple of other's , there is nothing you wont beable to accomplish and produce on dvd ...

Until a really good mpeg cutter ... developed in pure c++ code is made and released as freeware that is acurate ... ulead is the better option .

    =====================

Keep an eye out in 2007/8 ... I might be finacially able to do this then ... and it will be frame acurate for both mpeg1 and 2 ... no blasted netframework crap to hassle over .

Will keep an eye out. Be sure to post an announcement on this forum when/if it happens.
