  1. I ripped one DVD from the simpsons 7th season in to my hard disk with dvdfab.
    I got no errors and no problems. It also played fine from the hard disk.
    I tried to open it in DVD shrink to compress it but it says "Failed to open file VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB"
    I tried ripping it from my hard disk to another location with anyDVD and I also tried using vob blanker and same thing happens.
    So i compressed it with DVDfab express, and it worked, but now when i play it the menus don't work... i mean the menu appears but i can't click any button.

    DVD Fab Decrypter (aka DVD Fab Express) is a useful tool but should also be treated like a strong drug. It may cure the patient but you also run the risk of killing the patient. It has a very aggressive decryption capability. Unfortunately as part of this, it ignores errors. If an error is a real error on the source, this can result in a file being copied that is damaged or incomplete. Depending on how the file is damaged, the result from a fix-it utility may or may not be useable.

    A : disc is faulty .
    B : disc has suffered actual physical damage .

    Now C :

    Accos protected ... use the http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078 method next time .

    For some reason this is not perfect on every pc ... so here is some extra info that will help .

    ==================

    Just been showing a person this one earlier .

    The straight and easy method .

    Open vob1 in vobedit , demux by cell id to another folder .
    Open each mini vob and locate the actual first clip of title .

    DELETE those before this .

    Rename this first mini vob to vts_01_001
    Next to vts_01_002
    Next to vts_01_003
    Do them all in this order (these mini vobs only)

    Close vobedit , reopen it .
    Load first mini vob .
    Goto file , join vob cell's .
    Chose a new folder location for new vob file to be written too and go .

    ==============

    Delete those mini vob's now .

    ==============

    Move that new vob (vts_01_1) back to where you other vob's are .

    Now open vobedit , and load the first vob .
    Demux video stream , complete title set ... to a new folder , and wait .
    Repeat demux , but audio , default english is 0x80 , complete title set , save to folder where video went and wait .

    ==============

    Open rejig .
    Select dvd author .
    Add your m2v video stream to first box .
    Add the audio stream to second box .
    Sellect output folder .
    Proceed with author process and wait .

    ==============

    You can now run this new title through dvdshrink without issue ... or while rejig is up and running , use it's recompress feature .

    ==============

    Burn to dvd-r when done .
    Delete all file's associated with project .

    Dvd is now same as vhs tape ... insert and it gose

    ==============

    If you want to keep all the other stuff , then this process is more involved .

    Sound's as though one of the program's you used stuffed the navigational command's up on the menu ... pgcedit to edit these ... if you know which command's are needed to return all functionality ...

    ==============

    Problem is related to accoss protection on dvd title ... a simple idea implemented year's ago ... now returning with vengence .
