I want to get a camcorder that has an analog to digital passthrough. I want to spend probably under $800. I know 3-CCD camcorders have best quality... and I know panasonic came out with a 3-CCD camcorder that is in my price range for the first time... but one of the features they dropped is the analog to digital passthrough. Does anyone know if Panasonic, Canon or any other brand makes something that meets my requirements?

  2. people keep praising panasonic for those TINY 3 CCD's which is worse than 1 BIG CCD.

go to camcorderinfo.com and do some research. for your sake, get a camcorder with the biggest ccd you can find, 3ccd is a nice ideea, BUT they have to be big, 3 small ccd is worse than 1 big ccd, which is the panasonic case.

I think that depends on the enviroment you're shooting in. For outside well lit shots the 3ccd will outperform the single one because of it's better color reproduction. The single ccd will work better in low light... Of course results can vary by cams as well. That camcorderinfo.com is good site with a lot of info, if you find a cam you like whether it has pass-thru is usually listed at the bottom under other features.
