Video and audio are compressed using bitrate to control the amount of data used to store the information. This is called the Bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the more data needs to be read during playback. DVD has an upper limit of 10080 kbps combined audio and video bitrate. Practically, given the vagueries of burned media, the total bitrate often needs to be less.

You need to look at how your video was encoded - what program and settings did you use - and the same for your audio, to work out which is causing you the problems.

One gotchya for young players is PCM audio, which has a very high bitrate and can easily push a higher bitrate video over the top.

You might want to download Bitrate Viewer and see what it says
