I have 16x disks and wonder if it is "safe" to burn a movie at that speed? Will the movie play alright?

Some people say yes. Some people say no. I personally have no problems burning anything at 16x.

If disks are rated at 16X, there should be no problem. Ive burnt numerous disks at 16X without any problems.

    amen (or I agree).
Your burner and/or software won't let you burn it that fast, unless it thinks it can handle it.

I have no trouble burning them at that speed, but they won't always play in standalone players.

I normally burn all my blanks at 8x, they are rated for 12x and 16x, but time is not an big issue for me...

Burn at say 8X and 16X, then scan with say KProbe or Nero CD Speed and compare.

Any decent quality 16X discs should be fine at 16X. Also depends on the burner though.

  9. It only peaks at 16x anyway, most of the time it's slower.
