  1. Can you convert an .AVI file with a Divx Codec to something like MPEG or VOB?? So as to be able to turn it into a DVD?

    Thanks!

Wow, I don't think anyone's ever thought of that before.

  4. BJS,

Well, I was wondering about Avi2dvd before I posted this thread. But the tools section describes Avi2dvd as being able to convert .AVI files encoded with various FREE codecs. I don't know though if that includes Divx, because there always seems to be propriatary issues going on with Divx.

FWIW, twice-weekly I encode a Divx AVI video podcast with AviSynth and TMPGenc Plus to a DVD so that I can watch it from the comfort of my sofa. Easy.

Even learned about dealing with the TV's overscan here in the forums, now I just re-use the script over and over (changing the input file name of course).

  8. If only there was a program with a really obvious name, like DivXtoDVD. Too bad they changed the name to ConvertXToDVD.

    ... and hope. And pray.

Or use a program that at least offers some support instead of spamming our wonderful forums, and also provides a much better success rate, such as DivxToDVD or ConvertXToDVD. Or learn to do the process manually. All you need is an MPEG encoder like CCE, TMPGEnc, etc etc.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  10. for the novice user, and heck even for experienced users like myself, winavi is really quite nice, mainyl because its about 100X faster than anything else ive used (tmgenc etc.), I don't know how it does it so fast but it does, quality isn't super, but when ur looking at a tv 10 ft away u cant notice a difference.

only problem ive ever had is sometimes it gets the aspect ratio a little wrong, it'll cut off top and bottom of a video frame if it doesnt fit into 16:9 or 4:3 perfectly...but otherwise it works fine

    just my 2 cents

  11. I have had luck with Diko. You could try that one.

I had the same problem like yous before. And the supporter from WinAVI told me that, when do the conversion, must adjust aspect ratio for picture at99%,both height and width, then it will not cut the top and bottom.
I trid that,it really can.Maybe you can try too.

But you will get a poorly encoded, distorted image. Well worth the price of admission.
