Hi everyone, if appropriate, please direct me to any more appropriate forum(s).

I'm seeking to enable downloads of a few MFP8 (Macromedia Flash Player, version 8, etc.) videos.

I found a few of this type of web offered videos at http://www.celebritywonder.com/vids/, and as they're only offered in MFP8, hopefully there's a workaround that precludes any need to buy anything, ref. software like Video Capturix, etc.).

    http://www.freetrialdownloads.com/A...urix-Suite.html

Besides if memory serves me correct, I think that the producers of this software (Digital Rivers) are basically selling a package that is compiled from nothing but free software anyway, no?

Okay, I didn't use this forum's search engine as they're generally lame, but this site's engine is right on.

I found several sources to follow up on.

    Ref. free software at http://sdp.ppona.com/,
    http://keepvid.com/, and/or http://videodownloader.net

Thanks if any other sources can be mentioned.

    Kind of stuck here.

    Ref. free software at http://sdp.ppona.com/,
    http://keepvid.com/, and/or http://videodownloader.net

First two links are bad, but the 'video downloader' one got me to...

    http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

..which seems to not be a site to download the program, but instead it's a site where users are to "copy the link of the page with the video on it and paste it" (into their dialog box) and then chooses the direct download site (for me it seems to be "youtube" as that's where I'm seeing the video as actually coming from), clicks "download" and apparrantly its supposed to download somewhere?

Has anyone used this web based Video Downloader 2.0 program? And did I correctly intrepret what the user needs do?

Did you cut and paste the links? The first two are 'bad' because somehow, the commas were included with the active links.

    http://sdp.ppona.com/
    http://keepvid.com/

Word has it, however, that the javimoya site was just a blatant rip-off of keepvid's. (I personally haven't visited it, but a number of people have claimed it in other places, and keepvid's site has a comment on it (see the 'Keepvid clone?' link on the right side on their page.))

You're basically right about the way keepvid/VideoDownload work. KeepVid even has a bookmarklet version, and I think someone's working on a Firefox extension. VideoDownload also has a Firefox extension of its own.

Apologize for not replying back w/at least another thank you. Was terribly involved with my OS after a mid May format.

As for the http://keepvid.com/ link, couldn't get it to work. Looks like it only will if you're willing to only download in flv.

However, I just now ran across across a doo-dad I bought last year and all but forgot about. It's basically a set of cables (USB, S-Vid, etc.) having a small gismo box inline (with screenshot capture button on the gismo)and it* is intended for use with pc's and VCR's, cable TV boxes, etc., but un-noticed by me (until now), one of it's two CD-ROM contains software complimenting *DVD Maker USB 2.0, and that accompanying CD-ROM (DVD MovieFactory 4 SE) reportedly includes an encoder that will work on any file already playable in WMP, and not only will converet the files to DVD format, but SVCD, etc. as well, and even includes a burner application!

If it works on MFP8's, etc., now all I need to do is re-locate the vids I wanted so badly. LOL

    Will post back with results.

Yeah, I believe Keepvid/Video Download only work for FLV videos, like those on YouTube. Windows Media, Quicktime and Real-format streams usually require different software.

    Merry X-Mas everbody,

Well, still haven't found a way for me to play flv vids that I'm finding/viewing (only) online, even though I've just now run across a freeware app named Flv Player which enables users to not only view but also loop the clips. For whatever reasons I'm having issues playing flv vids (after copying them from temp internet folder), maybe this'll do it.

And at least I found means to convert WMP playable files for VCD and DVD burning, ref. my K'World Multimedia DVDMaker* (an adapter USB to SVid&RCA jacks) accompanying CD's containing ULead MovieFactory4SE (136Mb) and PVR Plus (1/2Gb).

VLC can also play FLV files. Others, like Media Player Classic, may require you to install an FLV splitter first.

As for converting regular video files for VCD and DVD, you might also want to spend some time exploring the Tools section to the left.
