  1. Okay, I am capturing through ATI Software which saves it as .mp2 Then I convert that to mpeg using the instructions from http://www.members.home.net/richa/svcdfix.htm which has me use tmpgenc.exe. But when doing this, my sound is now 10 seconds delayed compared to the video. Is there a fix for this. I know that the delay in audio is occuring because of tmpgenc.exe, because the .mp2 files ATI creates, has no problems. Is there a setting I should change in tmpgenc.exe? Thanks in advance,

Here's what;s happening to me, maybe it'll help you in a way.

I capture MPEG-2 videos with my Radeon, and when you play back the straight capture, then it's all synched up.

Now, just for fun (though I do it for necessity), run your MPEG-2 thru DVD2AVI, and make a project file. You will also notice it simply demuxes the Layer-2 audio stream from the Video, rather than making a WAV file. It should go very fast!

On this .mp2 (.mpa?) audio file, you will see, embedded in the name, a value like "-99ms" or something like that. This shows the exact delay DVD2AVI found when it demuxed.

When you open the project file in TMPGenc, and the audio file, go into "Source Range" menu, clip it how you want. BUT, here is where you put in the opposite value (in ms) for the audio delay. For -99ms in the filename, put 99ms in the offset box.

What I'd do though, is expand the audio .mp2 that DVD2AVI puts out, and make a WAV of it (it should remain the same delay). Then use the WAV as your audio source. TMPGEnc definitely screws up .mp2 to .mp2 audio, my personal experience is it does WAV to .mp2 OK.

  3. Now, if I can just find the exact delay. Can I just use the .mp2 file created from the .m2p file instead of going through all of the conversion business? Also, 2 quick questions, where is the Source Range Menu? All I am doing is done with MPEG Tools. But, I am unsure of where the source range thing is (since what I am thinking is that I could just time the delays with DVD2AVI then use that time).

Also, where is DVD2AVI? I will look a bit (i haven't yet, but where would I find it)
