hello i have a mp4 file and at first i could not get it to play. I then installed the k-lite codec pack 2.7.2 and it managed to play it but in slow motion. How can i fix this?? ive tried uninstalling the codec pack and just installing some '3ivx' codec but that did not do anything.
The picture only plays in slow motion once the codec pack is installed, otherwise it won't play at all - windows media player doesnt play it at all, vlc player does an illegal operation and closes and ive tried with nero showtime and it only plays some wierd music which i don't know if it's the correct audio to go with the file or not....
can anyone help please??
*edit*
i opened it with gspot this is all what it says:
container
------
file type: 3gpp media (.3gp) [MP4 compat.]
mime type: video/mp4
then when i tried to 'render' it it gave me a error and it ended with cannot playback the file. the format is not supported.

Try haali media splitter as the mp4 decoder and ffdshow for the video.
but if it is a high resolution h264/avc it requires a faster cpu than a p4 1.6. -
Hi, i installed both of them and now the picture appears but is still in slow motion, the file is 700mb and i have tried finding software to convert the mp4 file into something else so i could make the resolution smaller and maybe it will play then,
any ideas?
p.s. i have never had any trouble playing files of high resolution which were around 700mb .avi file's until this -
Are you getting Audio? is it in slow motion?
Could be you're just underpowered and the computer can't spit it back to you on time.
Could be (but not very likely) that the piece was actually a slo-mo movie.

The mp4 container isn't the problem. It would be that the video is AVC and your hardware simply isn't upto handling it. Remuxing to avi wouldn't help. You would need to lower the resolution and or convert to something more CPU friendly, such as XviD (MPEG-4 Part 2).

Hi,
to answer your questions the audio is playing fine (it's music) but it doesnt fit the picture thats coming up (in slow motion).
Can you please recommend a software to convert the file into a xvid mpeg-4 part 2?? i';ve tried many converters but the always seem to spit out the same error stating that they do not support the format when it is .mp4 and they do convert it.. -

also under 'V. codec name' and 'A.1 codec name' it says unknown -

Also, the MP4 format does tend to have slightly better compression than, say, the same movie compressed as an AVI with DivX/Xvid, if I remember correctly, so seeing an AVI that's larger than the source MP4 may well be common. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
i tried converting it to mpg and other formats but it all ended up being in slow motion and the music playing fine. I just guess thats how the video really is, and i didn't expect it...
thanks for the help everyone and suggesting those programs it's helped me alot and also that super program is great never seen anything like it !
