Hi,
I have just got CCE (v 2.50), and its running on XP on a P3 600 with 128mb mem.
My problem is I am trying to convert my avi file(CanopusCorps Raptor codec), to MPEG2 for SVCD at as close to DVD image quality as possible.
As simple as the little progam seems, its got me confused. I am using the Standalone App, and on its default setting for CBR is 600 kbps. From what I have read around here 2-3000k should be what I am using. Am I correct here?
Also it is SO SLOW!, yet everbody says its quick. On a file that is 4mins(720x576/25fps) pal avi, it wants to take 11 hours and has a speed of 0.007. After a few mins, it does get better, but only just 0.025, and 3 hrs)Whats going on!
I have tried it on a 2000 box, and it is faster, but then I get no video, just the sound. Could this be me? I have left CCE with all its default values.
Thanks all.

Ok, I have had a little(if u could call it that), progress.
I have the 2000 box humming fine, so I figure it really doesn't work well on XP pro.
The problem now is that the result of the CCE encode creates three files. An MPA, MPV and a VAF file. I know what the VAF file is, but neither the MPA or MPV contain any video.(using Windows Media 7.1)
The MPA file is at least associated with Windows Media, but the file size is very small(only a few of meg), and has no video when played. The MPV file is at least around 80 Mg, but it is not associated with any file, so what I am supposed to do with it.
Where it the MPG file I think I should be getting?

Hi Peter,
MPV is video portion of MPEG, and MPA is audio portion.
Use TMPEGEnc to multiplex MPV and MPA files and you will get MPG file.
BTW. CCE needs 256MB of RAM.
I have XP Pro, AMD 1.4GHz cpu, 512MB RAM. Yesterday I encoded ONE hour of AVI video to MPEG2 for DVD. It tool CCE only ONE hour 25 minutes. CCE is the winner in speed. Your problem with slow encoding because not enough RAM and slow CPU. -
I have just got a copy of CCE and I cant get the sucker going.
Do you want to share with us what your processes are and what other proggies you use?

PS. I have the exact same setup as you but with 512 RAM. Just wish I could get CCE going to see what everybody's raving about.
