    Hi there,

I once was able to follow a tutorial on splitting a VOB file into its 2 components: Video (mpeg 2) and Audio (ac3). I can't find the tutorial now, and I don't remember what program I used. Here is a list of the programs I have if anything can point to a program that could be able to do this or a tutorial:

    Thanks.

DVD Decrypter would be the one from that list. Rip in Ifo Mode. Click on the stream processing tab. Remember to check Demux for both the video and the audio stream

    Thanks Mate,

Where do I go from here (see image attached)?

I changed the Mode to "IFO" and clicked on the "Stream Processing" tab, but now what?

    Thanks again!

I always used Vobedit. But to answer your question: check enable Stream processing and check demux.

    Thanks

BTW, while I got you here, is there a way for for DVD Dectrypor or VOBedit to make a mpeg2 that already has the audio in it?

    Cheers.

Do you want to convert the movie directly to mpeg2? Why not remux after splitting? Maybe Alcohol 150% or Isobuster can help you here. The problem is, that the Audio/Video streams are separated on the DVD, therefore it's easier to demux (stream copy) than to mux. Maybe DirectStream works (haven't tried that).

    I don't understand the difference....

    What is "remux after splitting"?

My ultimate goal is to get a file type what I can put into Adobe Encore. I'm guessing VOB2MPEG is my best bet for lossless quality?

Remux: combining splitted streams into one. Reading direct streams should not result in any losses in quality. Doesn't Encore accept separate streams for video and audio?

I don't know. I'm an idiot when it comes to video.

Encore 2.0 freezes on me when I import large video in, (1.0 G mpegs or so).

But you are aware of mpeg from DVD might be greater than 4GB? How is your HDD formatted? Only NTFS supports filesizes > 2GB!

    I'm NTSC running M$ XP sp2 Home with a P4 at 1G of Ram.

I don't think it is a filesize issue, I just don't think my (rather fast) computer can handle the program with 3 (or even 1) 1GB mpegs.

This really sucks. I'm completly stuck.
