I've been using Handbrake to convert Video_TS files to h.264 files and it's brutally slow on a G5. Over at the Handbrake forums, lots of people complain about Handbrake's lack of Altivec optimization for h.264. In comparison, the Intel libraries for h.264 are much more optimized and encoding to h.264 with Handbrake on an Intel Mac is much, much, much faster.

Has anyone compared ffmpegX's h.264 encoding speed to Handbrake's? Which one is faster and by how much?
