    Hi All
I have an InFocus X2 Projector and I am filling it with a dvd image coming from a cyberhome ch 300 dvd player and adjusting it to have 480p resolution.
Image is quite good, but I intend to obtain a better one by buying a standalone upconversion dvd player like the cyberhome 655 or any other model from samsung... and other.
Then I intend to fill Projector with an image of 720p for a better viewing of course.
Should this thing work ( will I obtain a better image? How much?) and will be worth the money.
    Thanks.

All your answers should be in your owners manual.

Based on the specs it accepts DVI input. So any player with DVI/HDMI output should work with the appropriate cable.

It also supports 480p, 720p, and 1080i, so it will accept any of the upconversion outputs.

Whether or not it will look better or not is for you to decide. DVD's are only 480i. Upconversion quality varies by hardware/chipset and results vary. Even with good hardware, output quality is subjective. There are many posts here regarding the quality/need for upconversion players.

Also keep in mind that most upconverting players, do not upconvert retail discs.

You probably would benefit from a better DVD player than a Cyberhome CH-300 but upscaling is probably not going to help much or may make it worse. Concentrate more on quality "cinema" deinterlacing (IVTC) and quality player features.

The InFocus X2 Projector has a native resolution of 800x600 which is very close to DVD. You should expect that the projector designers were optimizing for progressive DVD playback. The projector will upscale DVD 720x480 to 800x600 as it is. In the process it converts aspect ratio to square pixels. Using a DVD player to upscale a native DVD to 1280x720p will force a downscale to 800x600 in the projector. This is just as likely to reduce quality as help.
