First, you need to look to the upper left for 'What is' DVD to see the DVD specification. VCD video should be DVD compliant, only the audio needs to be changed from 44Khz to 48Khz. Your VCD video is apparently not compliant.

A program like Gspot 2.52 can tell you the format of the video.

If it is not VCD or DVD compliant, you will have to re-encode it to the spec. Then you should be able to convert and author it to DVD. TMPGEnc DVD author can convert the audio from 44K to 48K. more or less automatically with compliant VCD video and audio.

  3. also, if your sourcing from actual vcd discs, then it's possible that they arent properly being converted back to mpg, if this is the case, i suggest you give vcdgear a run...rather old program, but still works for all sorts of purposes....

Hi red, thanks for the help..
I tried Gspot and it says that my first video is a MPEG file and second (the one I would like to merge with the first video) is Non-AVI File - Type Unknown.

You told that DVD AUTHOR can re-encode for me, but how can I do that? is that simple?
I think I have to re-encode this VCDs.
Its very important for me, I have to merge these two files and its driving me crazy cause I've tried lots of software without a success!
So I would like to try the re-encode thing, and I would be happy with any help..

    Well, thanks..

See if you can open it with VirtualDub Mod. If so you may be able to frameserve it to TMPGEnc encoder and re-encode it to compliant VCD format. Then you can use TMPEGnc DVD Author. DVD Author just converts the audio to 48Khz, it doesn't change the video. It will ask you when you drop it in. Frameserving guide: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=36#36 Frameserving sometimes works when TMPGEnc encoder won't accept the video directly.

  6. to me it looks like the problem files are corrupt or at least non standard. Try the trial version of VideoReDo Plus and use the quickstream fix that is on the Tools menu, many times that will work.

You could try this tool https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=MPEG_Corrector

    or https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=MPEG_Sequence_Maker

This second one is what I have used in the past for this kind of problem

Hi TBoneit you are right, I've tried VideoReDo Plus and it fixed my problem with merging my FIRST and SECOND videos, BUT now I have a new problem.
I took a Fourth problematic video and I fixed it with VideoReDo, then I go to TMPGenc Plus to merge with a Third Correct video file.
Ok, when I try to merge these two files, TMPGenc Plus shows me the following error: "File does not have any video stream"

Does anybody knows how to fix it? What should I do? Whats wrong?

*PS: mods, feel free to move my post to another specific forum if im not posting in the right place, but please dont delete my post ok? Thank you very much and sorry for any inconvenience. thanks

Everything seems to point toward a corrupted MPEG file. Unfortunately there are not a lot of tools available to fix them. If you could open it in a player like VLC Media Player you might have a chance. If not, toss it and move on.
