I'm fairly new at all this, as I've only converted a couple dozen so far. My question is I'm wondering how to increase video quality. I know this might sound lame, but as I said, I'm fairly new, so please take it easy. My idea was, since I'm using 2 cd's anyway, why not try to fill them both up, and get better vid quality? I've been seeing the "let's make the whole thing fit on one cdr at a little bit of a loss", or the "New Format" threads, but it's all greek to me at this point. I'm thinking increase the bitrate? And will that affect playability in my DVD (Panasonic DVD-RV31) player? I can play non-standard VCDs, in case that's a question that will arise.
Any help is appreciated!

What encoder are you using? My favorite is TMPGEnc. If you are using TMPG simply follow these instructions step by step ->
http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencxvcd.htm
When entering the bitrate (yes, for better quality, a higher bitrate definately helps) use VCDHelp's bitarte calc found here ->

Good luck and let us know if you don't undersatnd anything in the "how to" page
