I am trying to convert some DVD's that have closed captioning embedded in the MPEG, but no subtitles, so that they will play with the closed captioning visible on a portable DVD player. Since DVD players don't have closed captioning decoder circuitry, it will be necessary to convert the closed captioning signal into permanent subtitles.
