    Hi all,
Before I go on, can someone explain why it's so common to add an echo to the surround channels when dealing with a song, but not when dealing with movies?
That said, again, I'd like someone to check out some short clips I mixed. 3 of them are from different songs (ac3), one of them is my sad attempt to create a 5.1 mix from a film's mono soundtrack (ac3) and the other is simply a clip from The Terminator 1 (mp3), demonstrating what I was curious about before, regarding how when a 5.1 mix is created, certain channels contain mostly vocals and nothing else.
Please give them a listen. Here are the links:

with a song the instruments/vocals are expected to be processed and processed again with fancy fx.

with a movie the aim is realism and recreating the environment of the film..so unless they are walking through a metal pipe or in a tiles room reverb would be out of place.
