  1. So, beforehand I used VSO Divx to DVD while it was still freeware. Now, with the trialware ConvertX by VSO, have a few questions:

Does the trail time make it so that it stops working after a few days
How big is the watermark that you get with the trailware. is it transparent
Is the audio conversion better than the old VSO freeware - many times I have gotten a DVD with the audio going out of sync - rather badly
making menus - is it easy, can you put in your own graphics
Will it work on an older Win2000 sys. (yes, I know the write up says that it would work, but wondering how effective it is in practice)
on the trailware ver. is there a file size or time limit on how much converting it will do

Thanks for any help, looking foward to a better xvid to DVD experience.

    1. Don't know - probably 30 days if it has a limit
    2. Obtrusive enough that you will want to pay to get rid of it
    3. Yes. Although there are some VBR MP3 audio tracks that even manual methods struggle to fix. But for the most part it does a very good job.
    4. Menus are simple text menus. You can change the font and the background image. Text comes from the file names.
    5. Yes. Works the same as for XP.
    6. No limit to the size of file or number of runs. The watermark is the main limitation.

Why don't you download it and play ? It's not very big, and costs you nothing to have a go.

There are other advantages to the full version that the free version doesn't have, including

    - multiple audio tracks
    - subtitle support
    - pulldown for 23.976 source material (stops the jerky DVDs that come from duplicate frame padding to get 29.970 fps)
    - quality/speed options

I think it is worth the money, especially if you don't have the time or the inclination to learn the better, more complex methods. If you must go down the one-click-wonder route, this is the way to go - IMO

  3. okay, thank you. I'm using the registered version now, it *is* very sweet.

Just a quick question - is there any way I can make it so the DVD defaults to the menu screen when it loads up, as opposed to immediately beginning to run? (only made 1 test disc so far).
