Entered incorrect hack code for Samsung V70, now won't play DVD's. Help!

I obtained a hack code to change region settings on a Samsung V70 which proved to be an incorrect code. The consequence of this is that most (not all) DVD's loaded now come up with error message 'could not play disk'. Through this site I obtained the correct code and I tried to change it back to its original Region 4 setting but unfortunately the DVD's still come up with an error. I rang Samsung who told me they can't give any information on region settings and that I would have to take the player to a service centre so they can reprogram the firmware. Is there any way out of this or have I truly stuffed it up? Thanks for your help.

If Samsung provides firmware updates, you could try reflashing the firmware. Otherwise, you will have to do as they suggest.

Most vendors do not support problems that arise from "region codes" and/or firmware flashing. You perform both at your own risk.

Is this the incorrect instructions:

Power On with empty tray (No Disc will be displayed in the DVD control panel)
Press Subtitle button on your remote control
Press 5, 7, 5, 3 and 8 on your remote control (2 will be displayed on the TV screen)
Press the 9 for multi-region playback (9 will be displayed on the TV screen)
Press the Open button on your remote control
Close the tray on the DVD player
After 15 seconds have elapsed, power Off your player (switch the unit to stand-by mode) and then power On your player
Finished and ready to play all regions

I am not sure what the correct instructions were as I disposed of them! To me these look like thew correct instructions that I recently tried but still came up with same error!

Samsung does not list a V70 on their website. They have a V7070, but the page for that player is unavailable. If they have your player on their site and have the firmware available, they will most likely also have instructions available.
