  1. Hi,

I was wondering if after you encoded a complient MPEG file in VCD or SVCD format, does the disk still come out non-complient due to the shortcomings of Nero?

The reason I ask is because I have a Pioneer DVD player, and it seems to play alot of non-standard CDs. Although this is good, I would like to make sure the CDs are complient so things like FF/RW work, even on the poor models other companys make which can't compensate for non-compliency!

    Thanks,

  2. well, when you use nero to burn (S)VCD, there should be a check box that states "make standard compliant"...if you checked that box, the (S)VCD created by nero will be compliant on all machines...

however, the FF,RW that you're talking about...i also have a pioneer and it FF,RW with no problems...but, i've been told other dvd players might need a file called scandata.dat or something similar to be added to one of the folders in the (S)VCD disc in order to FF,RW...search on this site for instructions on it...

  3. I was told that Nero dosn't write some part of the MPEG stream correctly relating for FF/RW which is why it dosn't make complient Disks.

  4. hey, check this out:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcdmenun55.htm

scroll to the middle of the help guide, it should mention something about FF, RW for SVCD discs:

Important! To be able fast forward/rewind the SVCD on your standalone DVD-Player you must:
Download this scandata.dat (right click on the link and select Save Target as to download it, it is just a very small textfile).
Then add/drag the scandata.dat to the EXT folder of the SVCD.
