  1. Hi there! I use my miniDV and Digital camera on vacations. Is there anyway(software/settings) that I can use to combine both video (from the miniDv) and pictures (from my digicam), chronologically to form a single video stream which I intend to burn on a DVD later? I reckoned that perhaps a software would be able to analyze the time of picture/video taken from the exif/timecode info stored in the JPEG and DV-AVI files respectively. Is this possible? (I've apparently gotten tired of watching the videos and pics of the same event separately! ) Thanks!

    Hi,

The compilation would need to be done in some kind of editing software. I use Premiere Pro 1.5 and I'm not aware of any "arrange on the timeline by date" function.

The closest I reckon you'll get is to be able to list your source files chronologically and then drag them onto the timeline in the order they're listed.

Just make sure that your date / time is set correctly and in synch on both cameras!
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

You will have to do it manually if you want to use any decent editor. There might be some warm and fuzzy family type editor that does this - ulead or similar - but otherwise . . . . .

  4. Ulead Video Studio 9 does this easily. Open a new project and import your DV clips and JPEg photos and insert them into the timeline however you choose and you can easily choose the length of photos displayed. You can also easily add canned audio that comes with the editor or add your own audio track. When you're done choose the share option and output whatever format you want. I advise outputting as DV AVI and using a separate encoder. Ulead is a great editor for amateurs, but the built in encoder sucks IMHO.

Any editor can do what Ulead does - what the OP wants is something can can look at the date codes in the DV and in the photo data, and then order everything automatically for him.
