    does anyone know of software that will do this...
    convert MPG format into a quicktime format... so it will be viewable on the MAC...

    The Mac can play mpeg-1 files directly in QuickTime Player or in several VCD player programs. The QuickTime Pro version can also convert mpeg-1 to other formats like mov and avi. There is also an Apple software DVD player but I'm not sure if it can play all mpeg-2 files or just DVD disks.
