Describe what happens when you get this error.
Post your log.
Use Gspot to check the details of your AVI and post those results also.Dwight

Thanks for the reply, I've attached the error thats shown. Basically it comes up with the windows system error box which states ffmpeg encounted problems and needs to close, I've tried different avi's all with the same problem ?? if i just put an mpeg2 file in their it makes a dvd no problem, so i take it, it is when its trying to split the avi.

Understood, but we need to know how far into the process this happens, we need to see the log file and the information from Gspot can be a help in finding out if it's the AVI that ffmpeg has a problem with or if it's something else.
Have you successfully converted AVI files on your system with any other tools? Are you using the latest build of SVCD2DVD?
Giving us this information will help us to help you, without there's not much we can do.Dwight

Thanks I put the file thro g spot and renderered it no problem correct codecs installed etc, I've used tmpeg author to do the files no problem, so I'm thinking its conflicting somewhere, i've also tried the latest version of svcd2dvd and this gives the same problem. I've used this tool basically from when it first came out and this is the first time i've had issues with it.

You cut off the top of your log with system information, but I can see that your source and destination drives are both "D". Is it possible that you are running out of hard drive space during authoring?Dwight

Thanks for the response, I've plenty of hard drive space and the reason it goes to the next stage after ffmpeg is because it comes up with an errorand says it will have to close ( windows error box ), but I've just tried it again after readin a post from way back in regards of the system overheating, so I had a look at the system and cpu temp ( the cpu was 75 * c ??? ) I've fixed a fan and the temp is now 62 * c. I've re encoded the file that was first giving the issues and it's sailed thro no problem ?? is it all down to overheating and is the svcd2dvd sapping my resources is this why came up with the errors ???
But thanks once again -
Sounds like overheating, but that is usually just a crash, glad you got it working.
What kind of processor are you running? Mine is a slightly overclocked AMD 2600XP and rarely breaks 45C under load.
As to S2D "sapping resources", video encoding is very CPU intensive. If you think ffmpeg is a drain, try CCE sometime (100% CPU all the time).Dwight
