I've just started using this software and burned my first disc with no drama. The second one I tried ended up on the disc with no sound. It was a single file with a simple main menu and the file needed the XVid codec to be read by the program.

It got to the stage of burning when the project exceeded the capacity of the disc by a very small amount, but the program seemed to sort this out by itself. It said it would have to compress it and around 18 hours(!!!!) later the burning came out as a success. So I put the DVD in my separate player - no sound, I tested it on my brother's - no sound, then I tried it on the PC - no sound!

The first project was a complete success, so why did this happen? I'm confused

Just to add the source file for the successful DVD is an mpg, which I thought might be useful info.

  4. If MovieFactory told you the project was too large I wouldn't count on the final DVD working properly. You should go to the Project Settings dialog and change the bitrate ("Change MPEG Settings") to make the project fit. Also, when working with AVI files, turn off the "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" option. Otherwise the program will not recalculate the size on the timeline bar at the bottom of the window.
