I have both a
Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge
Canon GL2

I have old tapes in 8mm and VHS.
Some VHS are in PAL but most are in NTSC.

Unfortunately, im a first generation computer scientist so the tapes were not recorded by me.
They were recorded by normal people...i guess..
Yes, these people are unfortunately related to me.
They thought that recording longer is better, (EP) unfortunately they do not understand the tradeoff of how the longer timespace is achieved....so im basically stuck with...mostly recorded in EP.

The tapes are stored properly in a credenza-type safe with a lot silica-salt packets (which are cycled when they expire or the hygrometer reading rises) and a a hygrometer.

I've used the Dazzle DV bridge to tranfere SP tapes via S-Video...no problem....same thing with using the GL2 as a pass-thru.

Since these tapes are in less-than-good condition, i would probably need a frame synchonizer, time base corrector and a proc amp.

I haven't tried the GL2 as a pass-thru for the NTSC tapes, so i assume that the effects are the same as the Dazzle.
The captures drop frames during transfere, on the dazzle. I dont believe that it would be different on an ADVC from canopus...

Any recommendations of a capture cards that have these features on-board.....

I hope not to put a dent in my bank account with a Prime-Image PENTAII, but i do want to upgrade to a Canopus ADVC-500.

As for VCRs, I do plan to upgrade to a professional Hi-8 VCR.

Another question, as for the S-VHS professional vcr, is there a multisystem model.
I saw an AG panasonic model that had CCIR, NTSC 4.43 and PAL, but that was sort of useless, since the NTSC carrier is usually 3.38 if im not mistaken....
Otherwise I would have to run a 220 line to my office and install it under a eastern-european socket...probably would have to find a GFCI for it....

Yes, i am aware of the samsung world vcrs, but i believe an S-VHS would yeild higher palying back a VHS tape...

Thanks in advance...
