i recently bought a new hp 740 dual layer burner and it will not burn a dual layer disc, i can back up a single layer disc no problems. but it will not do a dual layer. i use dvd decrypter ver. 3.5.4.0 and use dvd shrink 3.2.0.15 and anydvd 5.9.4.1. again never had a problem with this software before and can backup my dvd's onto a single layer no problems. i do switch the preferences tab in dvd shrink from dvd-5 to dvd-9 when doing a dual layer disc other than that it's basic backing up. i called hp and the first question he asked me if i was using dvd shrink and i said yes and he said that dvd shrink is not compatible with this burner that he thought i needed new shrinking software that is compatible with this burner if so is there something better? other than that he recommended calling nero and asking them, tried that couldn't get through. here is the error messages i get when burning has failed. also i don't anything running in the background when backing up.

use IMG BURN to burn DL MEDIA. the author is the same for both programs.

    http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

if i'm not mistaken your HP 740 is a rebadged BENQ 1640 drive.

i see you're DL MEDIA is CMC which is crappy media. use VERBATIM DL MEDIA.

download IMG TOOL CLASSIC to convert the VIDEO_TS files to a ISO IMAGE.

    http://www.coujo.de/

you could also use IMG TOOL BURN to burn those VIDEO_TS files as well. that link above has a guide on how to use it.

I did the same thing you did when I first used IMGTOOL CLASSIC. When you direct IMGTOOL CLASSIC to find the VIDEO_TS directory don't open up the actual VIDEO_TS directory. Just direct it to the folder that has the VIDEO_TS directory folder. Look at this screenshot below. I only opened up the folder that contains the VIDEO_TS directory.
