  1. A storm was coming so with out any prep i ran over and threw the camcorder on the tripod in front of a clean window with no screen of any kind on it. I let it tape for about thirty min. I forgot to set the sshutter speed and all that. In fact not sure how to do the F8 thing or whatever. the f8 thing i found on a website i had found after googling "photographing lightning". any way after capturing what i had i went thru with my BSplayer and paused it right at the lighting and capture a still of lightning. I opened the jpg up with adobe photoshop and thats how i got the first jpg. then i went under color balance and turned it as green as i could which resulted in the second pic.

my question is. shouldnt my digital camara be picking more up? or less blotchy. i deinterlaced the film also by the way using virtual dub and came up with the same exact results. all this using raw DV-AVI format.

    any ideas or suggestions?

Very few DV cameras perform well in low or zero light. They are also slow to adjust the iris when lighting changes
