Seems like something went wrong or I have some other issues. Here's what I did and where I'm at:

Unzipped the ini, opened the run box, browsed to the "install" file, clicked it, then clicked run box's "open", then the run box displayed "c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat", I added a space and typed in "XP32" (less quotes) and clicked the run box's "OK" button.

My doing so resulted in a flash of the DOS window. After rebooting and using adaptec checker (ASPICHK), it showed only the WNASPI32.DLL and ASPI32.SYS versions 4.712 (0) files installed while WINASPI.dll AND WOWPOST.EXE still not installed.

The ASPICHK verification popup notes "ASPI is not properly installed. One or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software"

Is it me or maybe something my fresh XP Home install is preventing two remaining driver installations?

Is your reply maybe suggesting I install ForceASPI with ASPI 4.60 after my just having installed half the 4.71.2 drivers?

Cool. So (Heh) the answer was 'Yes, it was you.' and 'You needed to follow Adaptec's advice of installing 1.60 (actually ForceASPI) if there were any problems installing 4.712'.

Should have realized about as much because only a few months ago I installed Force' and had no issue.

However, after running thru Adaptec's 226 pages of FAQ's (since their search engine is lame) I re-read the Radified post (http://aspi.radified.com/) and found a couple of workarounds for installing the two troublesome drivers (WINASPI.dll AND WOWPOST.EXE).

Either renaming or deleting them as it reportedly XP doesn't need them anyway.

Not real sure I want to try that, but for some reason Adaptec came out with 4.712 and I'd kinda like to get it installed as whatever it enhanses or resolves, it'd be nice to take advantage of it.

    Thanks for get backs,
