Hi,
First of all I am an absolute beginner.
I want to convert an AVI file into aDVD file to be watched at my television.
First of all I had problems to get the image size right. I think I found this.
My settings: preset AVI to DVD mpeg2enc, video DVD 16:9, options decode with QT/letterbox.
When I click encode and do a preview, the image seem to be OK... but I don't have AUDIO.
Can someone tell me what to do to to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot for your help.

No I can't hear it in Quicktime, though when I use the preview button in ffmpeg I can hear the audio.

Being a debutant.... can you tell me what to do?
I go to tools, go to MUX.
Then must I click video, and select the encoded video_ts folder?
For audio1, must I select the audio_ts folder?
Then set the sync offset? Or am I completely wrong here.
Or maybe I have to set the sync , and then encode the movie? Or can I set the sync when the avi is already decoded? (maybe stupid questions... bust as I said I am a beginner...)

When the program puts a video stream and audiostream together with an offset for one of them, then -near the end- one of the streams may 'run out' before the other. Under-runs, as in: not enough frames available to do what is asked; all out of ingredient #1 to mix with #2.
If the error is minor, then the Mux tool will continue and generate an .mpg file and VIDEO_TS folder. Do these playback okay?

Open the new VIDEO_TS folder with Apple DVD Player, likewise, is it synced to your specification?

The .mpg file won't open in quicktime. In VLC it opens, but no sound or subtiteling. Video_ts folder with apple DVD player is unchanged.

No No I haven't given it up yet... I am sure with the help of a specialist like you, I will be able to disolve my problems... as a matter of facts I learned already a lot
I downloaded the AC3 codec component. Does it install itself? or do I have to put it somewhere?
It is now on my desktop

Ok thanks. I do the test now...
It will take a few hours to decode.
Is there no possibility to have a preview with sound and image while encoding the movie?
Becaus e when I click the preview button , I can se that my image is ok, but I have no audio... or will it change now with the new ac3codec installed?

You can save testing time by splitting up your AVI, and working with the small segment.

If it is only a playback error, you can use MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) to fix the sync. If the sync is actually saved incorrectly in the file, you can shift it earlier or later with a number of utilities, including QT Sync. (http://www.qtsync.com)
