Hey guys, I just started playing with the new Nokia 6165i from Sprint PCS, and I have a question for some of you who might've done the same. The phone supports .mp3 and .aac, but when I send .mp3's and/or .aac files to it, it says "File Not Supported". What's with that?

If you check out some of the ringtones that it comes with, they have .aac extensions.

I notice that all Sprint phones have the same problem, I guess its there way of getting you to buy ringtones rather than creating your own and sending them wireless via Bluetooth or Infrared. (By the way, I've tried both of the methods just stated)

Is there any way of bypassing this, or at least somehow getting custom made ringtones from my computer to this phone.

    --------------------

On another note, I previously owned a Nokia 6255i from MetroPCS, and it worked flawlessly with .mp3 and .aac ringtones. I send them from my PC to my phone via USB Bluetooth Dongle. I've also been able to send many other phones ringtones from my 6255i, including Nextels, Cingular Wireless, and MetroPCS. Just no luck with Sprint. Why is this?

    Thanks in advance!

Ok, I'm going to check into that. Thats make sense, I can see how that might give it that error. I just assumed that all Nokias can take mp3's no matter how they're encoded, only because I've tried sending all kinds of different mp3's to several Nokia's (Just not Nokia's on Sprint PCS) and they send & play fine.

Thanks. I will try that tomorrow
