  1. I have been messing around with capturing from my VHS-C camcorder with a Dazzle DVC50. I have figured out how to make both a VCD and SVCD and have em play on my RCA DVD player. The problem I am having is that in SVCD the video is absolutely horrible. In VCD it is still not great, but alot better. What is limiting me? Is it the resolution of the original VHS-C, or is it that my capture device is crappy? If I get better capture hardware(Pinnacle DC10plus is what I just ordered) will the output be better? What about 8mm camcorders, is the resolution better than with VHS-C? Sorry for the long post, I am bursting with questions. I never new this video stuff could be so facinating and fun.

  2. The problem is the DC50, it can only capture highly compressed 320x240 video over the USB port. There is no way to make a SVCD copy using this capture device. I would not even use it for making VCD's. It's OK for making 56K streaming internet video files or video e-mail. For SVCD, you need to capture at least 480x480 pixels.

  3. What resolution is vhs-c to begin with? Even if I have a device to capture at 480X480 is the source resolution still going to be too low? Is it possible to make decent quality vcd/svcd from vhs-c with the right hardware?
