sometimes. All files are TV program mpgs burned to HDD using Hauppauge TV card. After conversion from mpg to wmv which often includes edit(s), sometimes the audio is not synced to the pic.

Does anyone have any ideas why?

    Tks,

If you go mpg -> wmv -> DVD, you're taking the long road. If you can't do your edits in the original mpg, use DV AVI as a intemediate format.

I am not going to DVD, otherwise I would not go wmv.
But now that you mention it, what free tool can I use to edit an mpg over 700meg?
The above mentioned tool works to edit and / or convert files. However, if I want to keep it in mpg format, then I can not edit it using this free app.

Virtualdubmod with the panasonic DV encoder. Convert the mpeg to DV avi. Load this into Windows Movie Maker to edit etc, then output to wmv from there.
