I've really tried every tool I can find, read many posts, installed tons of codecs, and I'm starting to go a bit crazy.

    Here's the mission.
I've got an MKV movie (anime...) that I'm trying to get into a format I can play on my PSP. I've had success with this sites help in getting several OGM files working using VirtualDubMod (even got subtitles working with the VobSub, TextSub Filter). Converting to MP4 with subtitles and Japanese language is the ultimate goal.

Anyway, I can Extract all of the Audio and Subtitles with mkvextract. That's working okay.
It's the Video portion that's giving me fits.

According to an MKVinfo utility, it's using a V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC codec.
The latest version of mkvextract extracts it successfully, but creates a raw avc stream.
avc2avi converts to avi succesfully, but when attempted to load into VirtualDubMod, it still fails due to H264 encoding.

I'm supposing I need a program that can decode the AVI I have now, then re-encode with a codec that VirtualDubMod will work with. My last step is using ImToo Encoder which has a nice preset converter to MP4 with settings that work nice for the PSP.

Any help is greatly appreciated... much thanks in advance.

You need to have ffdshow installed and enabled to decode AVC. Easier I think to just convert the mkv directly.
