    Hello
I have a problem with a .avi file, that didn't play on my standalone DVD player. So I converted the file to a .mov using QuickTime. The .mov plays fine on my computer with QuickTime.

This .mov I converted then to .m2v and .aif using BitVice – the .m2v file plays well on my computer with QuickTime.

Finally I muxed the two files to a Video_TS (DVD) using ffmpegx. Once again the video plays well on my computer with DVD-Player. B U T when I play this DVD with my standalone I just hear some stuttering sound and a black screen.

I don't know what to do! Any help would be appreciated!

  2. You should convert the .avi you had at the beginning to DVD by using the "DVD ffmpeg" preset.

Thank you very much for the advice, I'll try that!
I'm not sure, it seems that I tried it already, but I don't remeber any more with which method I produced the various trial DVD's. If it still doesn't work, I'll come back.

    Thanks again

I tried it and the response came very quick in a few seconds, when I click on info, it says the following:
FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
    Tue May 23 22:50:30 CEST 2006
Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
    Input #0, avi, from '/Volumes/HD2/Ginga.avi':
    Duration: 01:02:18.5, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 944 kb/s
    Stream #0.0, 25.00 fps(r): Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 480x360
Number of stream maps must match number of output streams

    What does that mean?
    Any help is appreciated!

  5. It looks like the application can't recognize the audio track from your source file. You should convert it to WAV by using some other applicationk, then mux the m2v file you obtained before with the WAV.

    Thanks major for the information.
But I still don't understand one thing: at the end of my long conversion process (see my first entry in the topic) I had a DVD that played perfectly on my computer but with my standalone it was impossible...
    Why is that so?

    Thanks
    Pascal

  7. You mean that the DVD played with sound on the computer? In that case check in your standalone whether the audio is not on track 1 (by using the remote control to change audio track). Otherwise try to encode again by using mp2, 48000 Hz, 224 kbps, stereo audio instead of ac3.
