    I am converting a WMV file to an AVI file in Premiere Pro 2.0. I imported my WMV file and then Exported it as a AVI file. Its taking about 55 minutes to convert this 28 minute movie. Is this a normal speed? Would another program do it faster then Premiere Pro 2.0?

    Thanks!

    Maybe try Windows Movie Maker ?

    Assuming, of course, that you want to convert to DV-AVI.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Super , but it also may take time .
    Even mediacoder ... but then again ...

    =======================

    You might want to speed up your pc a little , follow this ...

    1:

    Remove anything running in the system tray that dose not need to be listed (right click them in most case's allow's them to exit) .

    2:

    Click start , run , type

    msconfig

    Go to startup tab , and uncheck non-essential startup item's , esspecially those related to printer's and camera's that are not presently connected to the pc , there is no sence for these to be loaded as a default ... the system will call these when needed ... hit apply , ok , reboot .

    3:

    Right click on start , choose properties ... select clasic menu .

    Now click start ... is there anything listed above program file's ... above that line ... the only item's that should be here is ms update , and new office doc (if you have ms office installed) .

    Anything above that line use's a very special part of the startup memory ... so it's best to minimize what is allowed up here above that line .

    4:

    Start - setting's - control panel - system - advanced - setting's - visual effect's , set to "adjust for best perfomance" , apply , ok .

    That's speeded up the pc a little for now ...

    5:

    What antivirus do you have installed ? , if it's norton's ... get rid of it and use another , like avg ... avg has a small memory foot print on system resource's ... norton's will grind any pc down , it's a hog , and has been beaten by avg everytime ... sometime's norton's find's a virus , but cannot do anything about it ... avg will deal with this problem .

    This will speed up the pc alot .

    ===================

    After all this , encoding time's should improve ... it's the simplest thing's people miss or have not been told about that can cause long encoding time's .
