    okay.

    hello.

    this is my first post.

i wasnt 100 percent where to post this or if i was going to be ignored...

    so, forgive me in advance.

i have been thinking about a project. i am not sure the best way to go about doing it or really even how to do it. i am looking for feed back and/or suggestions. especially software recommendations.

the idea is to make a dvd that plays audio while one picture slowly fades into another over the period of 2 hours. a picture fading so slowly that you cant even notice. (i dont know why, but this amuses me.)

    atleast on the surface

the audio would be some prechosen and carefully arranged mp3s.

while its playing i would actually like to fade little bits of damage and what not to create interest and flaw in the slowly revealing image. as well text that might display what song you are on.

i assumed originally to have full control over the slow fade and the overlay of text for the correct song area and the other little occasional knicks and scratches as well, that i would build all of that in one long fell swoop. regular built in 'slide shows' building features where i just import my pics into an all-in-one package that came with my pc doesnt seem to have enough control over the crossfade duration to really work or look correct.

the dvd would have a basic menu that has play, chapters, and maybe an about section. these three screens would also have a prerendered movie file as the background.

the chapters i would like to be every song name and you can select which song you would like to hear. and it would just jump to it. it would be cool to have it just play that one section of the song and then hop back to the chapter selection. but if i could pull off just having it jump to that one song and continue to play normally that would be fine too.

    so what do you think?

i think it has the potential to be a fun and slick project. appealing to many, no. but i think if i can pull it off correctly, it would be a really cool way to pass out a killer mix tape with a prepackaged mood.

oh, as well, what dpi and size would you recommend for the images as well for optimum clarity and quality of image for rendering out the original art?

subtitles would also be great for the lyric curious.

    have a good one.

hopefully i wasnt too unclear and muddy with the information.

    ...and thanks.

Take a look here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=28#28 You might find a program that can do what you want. If not, you will have to get more involved. You may be able to set up the photos in a graphics program and export them to video. But the slide show programs would be a lot easier.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Nero Vision Express has a good slideshow function on it, and you can have picture-to-picture "crossfade" between slides. It might be useful to you, and I'm pretty sure you can download a demo version.

    Good luck!

This might be worth a look, if only for ideas -> http://www.pixelan.com/sm25/intro.htm

The type of fade you want seems to be very specific, and will probably need a lot of manual control and masks.
