I've got four episodes of Supernatural on the HD and transferred them to DVD using the optimized dub feature, designed to fill a DVD as best pissoble.
The first DVD had the commercials still on it and came out at 3.96GB and had a video bitrate of 2248Kbps @ 352x576 for 220 minutes of video.
Thinking that if I cut the commercials out from the four episodes I could get full DVD resolution, I made a second DVD on the Pioneer and this disk came out at 3.57GB and had a video bitrate of 2865Kbps @ 352x576 for 164 minutes of video.
The point is, that despite the increased bitrate when the commercials are taken out, the Pioneer doesn't seem to be able to fill the DVD - I reckon the video bitrate should be about 3450Kbps (the audio is 256Kbps).
Is this a flaw with the optimize finction?
