been away from the whole need to rip and compress scene...
so is DVD2OneX v2.05 worth the upgrade cost over
just using Toast 7/Popcorn?
I still have DTOX 1.42, but since
I haven't had a need for it in my self-authoring
( I just use a BitRAte Calc and shrink accordingly),
I was just curious what you guys thought....?

Terry, I tried DTOX (1.4) once. Backing up "Capote," which
was a resistant bugger that seemed to require a main-feature
extraction and manually de-selecting blank cells. I thought it
a nuisance at the time.
For normal use I prefer the ease and sort-of user friendliness
of Toast 7.

Hi terry, I presume from the DTOX 2.05 reference you are referring to Intel macs. I'll let you know in about 14 days when my new 17" MBP arrives!

thoughton...i'd be interested in hearing your reports.
Me, I'm eyeing the Black MacBook for X-mas.....!
Buick,
so then I would assume from your post
that edvberg didn't get my last hints
that Popcorn was making DTOX obsolete
by all the reports that Popcorn
was handling newer ArCCos/Ripguard schemes
better than (any version of DTOX after 1.42?)
and didn't fix anything? This I posted to him,
after initial reports of Toast 7.02's release...
(for those who don't know, edvberg is one of the minds
behnd DTOX)
If so they should be ashamed charging for it ,
if it lacks competitive functionality."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

I will update my post from above, i have found that having several tools works best. Some on the newer ripgaurd type DVD's you need the newest version of DETOX to handle them. I have been using DL Disc some lately and i like the ease of use Toast 7 offers on these, i also use Toast 7 when all i need is a small amount of compression. For compression over 25% i use DETOX and then toast 7 to burn.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion. -
Gotta agree with pixel, I don't like the new dvd2oneX interface at all. It took me a quite a while just to figure out how to make it stop burning automatically! On several occasions I've come back after a dvd2onex burn to find an error message about the burn. However the DVD appears to work okay. At other times it has failed halfway through a burn resulting in a coaster. Not very reliable, so I've gone back to shrinking with dvd2onex and burning with Toast.
