    I have a 700mhz 256mb computing with xp pro sp2.
When I try to watch a video file it pauses frequently and the CPU gage in the task manager is at 100%!
Im looking for codec pack which will enable me to watch DivX, Xvid etc with ease or maybe
a player which has all the codec integrated.

    Thanks

mplayer is probably your best bet. Uses even less resources under linux though. Not sure if running XP with 256MB's of RAM is such a good idea anyway.

I don't think any software will fix your problem. With only 256mb of RAM, XP is relying heavily on the swap file, even for non cpu intensive tasks such as web surfing. Any activity that requires cpu time and HD access just makes it that much slower.

You have 2 choices, switch back to Win98 (or an alternative such as linux) or upgrade your pc (at least the RAM).

The old pc's under 1000mhz , while xp will work , they are not recommended for intensive process's such as video playback ... The "go back to win98" suggestion is fine ... but I recommend this in dual boot ... so you keep the more secured os for online purpose's ... and current application's .

Have a search for koolplaya , less intensive on resource's than any other player .

Alternative is a mini linux distro ... searching will turn up a bootable media player version which is being added to all the time .

I have one for kid's (freind's children) , loaded with game's just to keep them entertained while we get other thing's done ...
