    I am looking for a video player with an added volume boost, software amplifier, or pre-amp, kinda like Winamp has.

    Any suggestions?

    if you use ffdshow you can set it to decode all kinds of audio and add a volume boost.

    or try kmplayer, several builtin audio feateres, normalization, preamp...
