  1. im trying to convert avi (xvid) files to dvd with tmpgenc and virtual dub, im extracting the wav file first then loading them in the encoder seperatly to encode, but im still having sync problems any ideas ??

  2. You did check to see that they play ok in the original AVI?

Is the problem a constant amount off? If so then you could adjust the audio delay.I do it all the time as you described and the only problem I had was a bad AVI where all of a sudden the Sync was off. Further checking led me some bad video frames. CLipping the file at that point and resyncing the second clip synced everything up at the with a slight discontinuity due to the bad video frame. If I hadn't already lomg since gotten rid of the original source I could have gone back and recapped it instead.

Bad frames maybe. What's your source?

Add a audio offset to it in Virtualdub in 'Audio>Interleaving>Audio skew correction' or in TMPGEnc, 'Source range>Audio gap correct'. It may take some experimentation to arrive at the proper offset.
